Uranus In Aries

New Moon in Virgo: Doing what is Necessary

On Monday, August 25th there is a New Moon in Virgo. New Moons are always times of planting seeds for a new cycle of manifestation. In Virgo we are planting the seeds of discernment. As an archetype Virgo is the energy of making adjustments in a step by step manner to make things more perfect. There is a detail orientation in Virgo unmatched in the Zodiac. This New Moon comes at a time when we are witness to the breaking down of the old guard and an emergence of a new paradigm.

Virgo’s goal is to make things work more efficiently. No matter what the job, Virgo comes in with it’s checklists and informational manuals and gets to work on making it better. So this is a wonderful New Moon to start a new health regiment, begin to clean out your closets, whether metaphorical or actual and start making your life work better for you.

The Chart for this New Moon is quite potent. The Sabian Symbol for 3 degrees of Virgo is “Two Guardian Angels” , Invisible help and protection in times of crisis. A comforting symbol at a time when the old paradigm in breaking down and the new paradigm is being formulated as we go.

As we look around, Nations, leaders, and certain groups are acting in the same ‘old’ way, power over, victim/victimizer, destruction of the nature environment in the name of sovereignty and dominion. The folly of this is almost laughable, if it wasn’t so tragic. There seems to be no corner of the world untouched by violence, upheaval and strife. So what’s the answer? This New Moon has some suggestions.

In the chart of the New Moon is a Yod or Finger of God configuration. This interaction between 3 or more planets creates the necessity to make adjustments. The planets involved are Mercury, Mars, Saturn and Uranus. Uranus in Aries, as the focal point of the yod, asks the question how can we become who we are uniquely meant to be. Aries requires ultimate freedom in order to function, yet Aries energy unchecked can create a very destructive atmosphere as everyone feels as if their way, is the right way.

Saturn and Mars are within arc minutes of their biennial conjunction, yet their relationship in this New Moon chart to each other is a balsamic one. Balsamic conjunctions ask us to let go, forgive and come to understand that we are all one. Asking Mars & Saturn, the planet of war & the planet of authority in the sign of death (Scorpio) to let go and forgive, may seem like magical thinking, yet it is exactly what we need in order to give each other the space and freedom to become our true selves.

Mercury in Virgo makes an opportunistic sextile to Mars and Saturn. This kind of sextile gives us the opportunity to reformulate our ideologies to create a more progressive equitable future. Mercury in Virgo is more than happy to work out the details of this! This does take some adjusting on both the part of Mercury, the mind, and Uranus, that drive to be free. So what mental constructs need to be released in order to make freedom for all a workable solution?

We are indeed in a time of crisis. Crisis brings into focus what is truly important. When we are in crisis we must function in the present moment , unconcerned with the past or the future. Yet it is within the present moment that we co-create our reality and determine our future. It’s time to truly figure out how to move forward in this time of great change. It will take time, patience, organization & discernment. So this Virgo New Moon is the perfect time to get started.

New Moon in Aries: Working within a New Paradigm

The New Moon in Aries occurs on March 22nd, New Moons mark the beginning of a cycle of experience that lasts around 29 days. Aries is the first sign of the natural zodiac. Any planet in Aries signifies the initiation of a new cycle of experience. Something new is being presented into manifestation. In fact New Moons, when the Sun and Moon occupy the same degree of the zodiac, have the energy of Aries within them, no matter what the sign the New Moon falls in. The fact that this is a New Moon in Aries at the beginning degrees of that sign (3 degrees) really stresses the initiatory instinctual nature of this archetype.

Adding fuel to this already hot fire is the planet Uranus which has been firmly ensconced in Aries since 2011 injecting the evolutionary intent of waking us up from our slumber. Waking us up to our innate power to both create and destroy. We are becoming aware of our co-creative abilities and with that awareness comes great responsibility, because if we are truly able to create our own reality, we no longer have the fall back position of being victims of circumstance. We create our circumstances individually & collectively.

Aries is the sign of war, historically many battles were begun once the Sun moved into Aries. Spring brought a melting of the snow and armies had greater freedom of movement . However, with our growing co-creative awareness we are coming to understand that the enemy is no longer inhabiting a distant land, but that the enemy lies within. It is our fears that drive us to hurting others.

Aries ruling planet Mars, is still in retrograde motion in Virgo. It has been in Virgo since last November and has been retrograde since January 24, 2012. Virgo is the sign that makes corrections, adjustments, cleans up the mess & tries its best to bring some order to chaos. On this New Moon Mars in Virgo makes an exact opposition to Chiron in Pisces.

Chiron is the archetype of the wound that cannot heal, in Pisces it points to the ultimate wound of abandonment by spirit. Before the universe become manifest all consciousness was within the Oneness of All that is. When manifestation occurred our souls were separated from spirit. The process of evolution is fueled by the desire to return to sprit. Yet spirit never left us, it has been buried within us & through the process of self-knowledge we can again access our spiritual connection.

Oppositions are times when we can become aware of something, something is revealed. After 6,500 years of patriarchal dominance ,especially the last 2,000 years of religious indoctrination and conditioning that has told us that spirit is separate from flesh. We were told all that is spirit is good and all that is of the flesh evil. This has separated us from our true natures. We are both spirit and flesh both are blessed.

Our wound around the separation of spirit and flesh becomes evident when we see how this type of thinking has effected our planet. Many feel as if the Earth is here to serve us, that we can remove from her whatever we wish without consideration for long term consequence. Yet we are of the Earth, this is our home, the only one we have at the moment. It is our responsibility to see that we are here to serve the Earth as much as she is here to serve us. We have a lot of catching up to do.

It is no coincidence that in America the conservatives are in the process of a full faced assault (an Arian way of dealing with things) on the reproductive rights of women. Forcing woman who want abortions to undergo invasive vaginal ultrasounds, asking physicians to lie to patients, and the constant pressure to take the rights of free choice. Woman have long been painted as of the flesh & evil, yet every one of those ‘talking heads’ came in the same way we all do, from between the legs of our mothers! That is a miracle of profound beauty. We need to love our Earth Mother as we love our birth mothers, for it is through the mother that we are gifted life.

We are in the throes of a great shift in consciousness, no longer can we create something without considering how it effects all of us. For what happens to the least of us happens to us all. If we are to survive and thrive through this time we must come from a place of love. Love connects us, fear separates us. And fear doesn’t just separate us from other people, it separates us from spirit. It closes our ears to that still small voice within that prods us towards oneness.

In this New Paradigm we find ourselves in it is our responsibility to move forward considering how our actions effect us all. This may cause us to feel that we are not getting anywhere, yet in truth we are already here. The key phrase for the sign of Aries is I AM. It is the beginning of all things. Decide what you are and proclaim it, then let the universe fill in the details.

New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius: Awakening to the Future

New Moons are points in the cycle of the Sun and Moon when they share the same degree of the zodiac. This occurs on an average of once o month, (sometimes 2x's a month when New Moons fall at the very beginning and very end of a month.) The cycle between the Sun and Moon, from one New Moon to the next is 29 ½ days.

When the Sun and Moon is New we cannot see the Moon in the evening sky for it is moves with the sun along the elliptic and during the day the Moon is invisible because it is overtaken by the brightness of the Sun's corona, unless of course there is an eclipse and the Moon is in alignment with the Sun in such a way that it can block out part or all of the Sun. This is the case in partial and total eclipses of the Sun. It is during this time that the shadow of the Moon can “swallow up” the Sun. The study of eclipses and their effects is an deep and ancient study. The ability to predict an eclipse with accuracy was a great power to have in ancient days. If you happened to be the kings astrologer it could be the difference between living a respected life or literally loosing one's head. Or in some cases, this information was key for the wily astrologer to “get out of Dodge” before the eclipse happened due to the fact that often a Solar Eclipse would predict the fall of a leader, and in those days the messenger was often killed because of the message.

This New Moon in Sagittarius at 1:10 AM EST on November 25th is in fact a Solar Eclipse because it falls close to the Nodal axis of the Moon which has been moving through the signs of Sagittarius and Gemini (The Nodes of the Moon are always exactly opposite each other by sign and degree) since March of 2011. There are two eclipse seasons a year, approximately 6 months apart, one season the Sun and Moon are New at the South Node and the other season the Sun and Moon are New at the North Node.

The last eclipse season occurred in June and July of this year (2011) with 3 eclipses at the South Node. South Node eclipses bring us an awareness of what needs to be let go of, what must be released so we can move forward on our evolutionary journey to come to understand ourselves and the world we have created.

This latest New Moon eclipse is on the North Node of the Moon and so our focus will be towards how can we co-create the future. The sign of Sagittarius, the sign of this New Moon, seeks to understand, to create a world view, a philosophy of life. Sagittarius rules philosophy, religion, the right or intuitive brain, as well as foreign shores. Sagittarians love adventure and traveling, as a fire sign it does not like to 'fenced in', it wants to explore the world, climb the mountain, fly to the moon, whatever can help it gain a broader perspective on the world. Sagittarius also rules nature and Natural Law. Natural Law is the Law of Nature. Observation of nature can 'school us' in understanding of these laws. For example the idea of taking more than we need, is against natural law. Defiling and polluting the very earth we depend on to sustain us is against natural law. Ownership is against natural law while being a conscious steward of the earth is in alignment with Natural Law.

The North Node is the direction of the future, the South Node the accumulated past, over the summer and through the fall we were asked to let go of many things, people, places, possessions, our ideas about relationship, authority, & what security is; all in an effort to pare us down to what is essential in our lives. In part that was a function of the South Node eclipses that occurred in the Summer in the signs of Gemini (thoughts) and Cancer (feelings). The North Node eclipse at this New Moon is asking us to plant the seeds for the future.

The Chart for the New Moon is very interesting and can give us some clues as to the energies we will be working with for the next 6 months at least. The Sun and Moon at 3 degrees of Sagittarius are in a stressful square to Mars in Virgo. Squares connote crisis, and crisis has a way of bringing us into the present moment to deal with our situation. Mars in Virgo is about working through the details, Sagittarius is the big picture, so the seeds we plant on this New Moon for the future, are not of the 'set it and forget it' kind, they will need constant care and oversight. Freedom, another Sagittarius theme cannot be lasting without attention to detail (that is why Virgo comes before Sagittarius in the zodiac). True freedom is hard won. And we will have plenty of time with details, because in 2012 Mars will go retrograde in Virgo and spend a whopping 8 months in the sign of Virgo (November 2011-July 2012).

Jupiter the natural ruler of Sagittarius, and for you astrologers out there, the ruler of the eclipse, is in Taurus retrograde. When planets are retrograde, it a time of review, a time to throw off any beliefs (Jupiter) about our resources(Taurus) that are not true (Sagittarius). Jupiter has been retrograde in Taurus since August 30, 2011 and within less than a month people began occupying Wall Street. And as the retrograde has continued we are becoming more and more aware of who holds all the money cards, incidentally Taurus rules money. This Taurus retrograde concludes on Christmas Eve and starts moving forward on Christmas. It will be interesting to see what our Christmas presents will be this year, as people come to terms with what is truly important in life. The archetype of Santa Claus is Jupiterian, all I can say about that is that the Universe has a great sense of humor!

Jupiter in Taurus is inconjunct (150 degree geometric relationship) to the New Moon. Inconjuncts are always aspects of adjustment. Both mental adjustments and emotional adjustments need to be made in our relationship to our resources. Jupiter in Taurus is also involved in a Grand Earth Trine (3 or more planets or points in a flowing aspect to each other creating a triangle of energy) with Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Virgo. Grand trines, such as this one work in the background as freely flowing energy it can be easily accessed but it must be accessed so we have to take the action. Transformation(Pluto) in the distribution of Money (Jupiter in Taurus) as long as we pay attention to the details and take small systematic steps (Mars in Virgo) can help us to create a new paradigm around money and resources. The simple act of moving your money from a large 'too big to fail' bank and putting it in credit unions or locally and state backed banks is a simple yet powerful step to reclaiming our power. In the US chart for the New Moon this Grand Trine is happening in the Water houses, the Water houses deal with our feeling nature and our emotional security, so as we take steps to transform the physical we are also accessing our inner selves. Ultimately we are being asked to evolve our emotional body and get in touch with not just our outer resources, but our inner ones as well.

And lastly, but surely not least, the Planet Uranus aka the Great Awakener in Aries, is in a flowing aspect to the New Moon. Uranus holds the energy of revolution, Aries the energy of new beginnings so there is plenty of juice for us to create the changes that are necessary.

This New Moon is an opportunity to begin the process or self-responsibility and self-reliance that can move us forward into a more equitable future. A review of our actions, our values, our resources, and our relationship to the planet are all part of the picture. The seeds of transformation are sprouting, it is up to us to nurture them, for they shall feed us all, on all levels.
