New Moon in Aquarius: Planting the Seeds for the Common Good

On February 8th there is a New Moon at 20 degrees in Aquarius. New Moons are time of potential, when we get to plant the seeds for the future. Aquarius is the sign of Brotherhood/Sisterhood. It is in Aquarius that we come together with others to work toward a more equitable future. Within Aquarius is the urge to break free from the constraints of an structures that no longer serve our evolution. Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius, can often blow apart structures that keep us from the light of spirit. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like a favor as we sit among the rubble of our lives, yet ultimately Uranus wants to free us and give as a broader more inclusive picture.

This New Moon is particularly potent for a number of reasons. The Sun/Moon conjunction (aka the New Moon) is sextile Uranus and Eris both in Aries. Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius and Eris, a newly discovered dwarf planet which holds with in it the archetype of the warrior who loves upsetting the applecart (to put it mildly) by using the pomposity and narcissism of her foes against them. These two revolutionary forces make an opportunistic connection to the New Moon allowing us to productively use the new forms of consciousness that are flooding the zeitgeist (spirit of the times).

A first quarter square of Mars in Scorpio to the New Moon creates an urgent sense that we need to take action NOW. And these are not superficial actions, but deep felt and transformational actions. Quite frankly people are tired of feeling powerless and anyone who can harness this energy can create sweeping changes. Energy has no preference as to who uses it. So if you want to change things for the better, people who believe in a better world must rise up. There are plenty of folks out there intent on destruction, focusing on them only empowers them. Focusing on change in a positive , life affirming and loving direction has more power, simply because Love trumps Fear.

This New Moon is also part of a Finger of God formation with the Sun/Moon In Aquarius, Uranus/Eris in Aries, Chiron/South Node in Pisces and Jupiter/North Node in Virgo. We are being shown that in order to move forward (North Node) we must work diligently in a step by step manner(Virgo) during this time of crisis (Virgo) to make the necessary adjustments (Finger of God) to change our mindset to a sense of positive possibilities (Jupiter). All this while releasing the emotional need to be a victim (Pisces/South Node) and becoming aware of just how deep this wound (Chiron) goes. Chiron is trine Mars at this time so we are coming to understand the depths of our wounding and at the same time, the possibility of healing these wounds (Chiron).

We are truly in a time of deep transformation. Since 2012 Pluto and Uranus have been battling out in the heavens, waking us up to the need to transform and revolutionize our lives. From 2012-2015 this ‘square dance’ broke us out of the ‘rut’ or our lives. Many people found themselves shaken out of their comfort zones, for others their whole life was turned upside down. This was seen in the collective as well. All this to prepare us for the next step in the evolutionary journey, to create a world based on universal truths. As we wake up to our true potential we are being called to make our voices heard, put our money where our dreams are, and get moving to build a New World in this New Paradigm.

If not NOW then WHEN? If not US then WHO?

New Moon in Capricorn:: When I grow up I wanna be a….

On January 9th we have a New Moon in the sign of Capricorn. The archetype of Capricorn is on of being in charge of your life. Of being an authority figure and utilizing your talents and abilities to make a mark in your world. This New Moon is a very powerful one, thanks in part to its connection to Pluto and Uranus which are closely in aspect to the Sun/Moon at 20 degrees of Capricorn.

Pluto and Uranus are the planets of Transformation and Revolution. They have been battling it out since the beginning of the decade, most notably from 2012-2015 when they made 7 exact squares to each other. These exact aspects helped to disrupt the structure of society and open us up to the truth of who we are, where we stand and what is at stake. These two transformational behemoths will continue to interact with each other well into the next decade, yet now instead of breaking up the old, it’s about creating the foundations for the new.

We keep hearing about a New Paradigm, yet what does that really mean? A Paradigm is a model from which reality is experienced. The old paradigm was a patriarchal one, where might makes right and force is the first action taken. It is this paradigm that has led us to the world we find ourselves in. This might seem quite depressing (another Capricorn archetype) . Yet, what we are truly being shown is the necessity to do it in a different way. Pluto the planet of Transformation is in Capricorn from 2008-2024 so any structures that do not support the New Paradigm will be transformed. Thing is, this will no happen on it’s own. We cannot leave this to fate, for it is time for each one of us to be counted (Uranus in Aries) and to start to act in a mature way (Pluto in Capricorn) and create the New Paradigm through the sweat of our brow and the openness of a loving heart.

The New Moon has supportive connections to both Jupiter and the North Node of the Moon, both in Virgo. The transiting Nodes are in Virgo (north node) and Pisces (south node). They show us what we need to move toward (north node) and what to release (south node). Virgo is the energy of making things work better, as an earth sign it is concerned with practical considerations and in at it’s core Virgo is about being of service. Pisces is the energy dissolution, of escapism, of fantasy and magical thinking. Pisces is also the archetype of the savior. We need to release any magical thinking that promotes the idea of being saved by something outside of ourselves. Whether that be a political figure, religious figure, alien, angel or ascended master. Not to say that these figures couldn’t help us forward, its just that we have to do it ourselves. Each one of us becoming actively engaged in our lives making a difference once step at a time, in whatever way we have available to us. Virgo is not about grand gestures, it’s about small incremental steps that add up to a whole lot of change!

So this New Moon points to each one of us doing our part to make the world a more loving, verdant, livable, compassionate and workable place. With Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn in Sagittarius, just of a conjunction to Venus the planet of essential needs, love and relationship, we must focus on our actions being in alignment with Natural Law (Laws of Nature) above and beyond the laws of men. The laws of men are written by those in power who want to keep the power. The laws of nature are written by life itself. If we want to live, it is these laws that we will have to follow.

There is great upheaval and destruction at this time as well as great opportunity to build structures for the new paradigm. Let’s all grow up, open our hearts and start doing the work we were born to do!

Full Moon in Cancer: The Fullness of Emotion

On December 25th we have a Full Moon in the sign of Cancer. Full Moon’s are times when the Moon is the furthest away from the Sun along the 360 degree circle and therefore affords us perspective and objectivity. Yet to say this Full Moon is objective would be untrue. The Full Moon is in the sign of Cancer one of the most, if not the most, subjective of signs. It is in Cancer that we become aware of our feeling nature. Cancer is connected to family/clan and mother or the nurturing parent. It is in Cancer that we strive for emotional self reliance.

The Sun, in the sign of Capricorn is a pragmatist and sheds light on our emotional selves. So on this Full Moon all will be aware of our feelings about things. There is also a supportive connection between Mercury the planet of the left brain and logical mind, and Jupiter, the planet of the right brain and creative intuitive mind. So we are working on all cylinders when it comes to knowing our minds and we won’t be shy to express that.

The other big shift today is that Uranus is stationing direct. That means after months of apparently moving backwards in the sky, the planet of sudden out of nowhere change starts to move forward. There is a lot of pent up energy when Uranus changes from retrograde to direct. So there is a wild card in the deck. What will happen is anyone’s guess.

Now on a regular day we could have feelings about family, think about how we were nurtured or not. Ideas about how we were raised and the need to express those ideas. Yet today for many is a day spent with the very same family that inspired much of these ponderings. So expect the day to be active, loud and somewhat boisterous. Sudden announcements that shake up the status quo are also a possibility.

We are moving into a New Year that will test much of what we have come to rely upon. This Holiday Season it’s important to know that the only thing we can truly rely upon is love. And although it doesn’t come in package you have always thought it should, it remains there. We will need this awareness as we move forward through 2016, So hug it out folks!

New Moon in Sagittarius: Planting the Seeds of Understanding

On Friday, December 11th, there is a New Moon in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the archetype associated with our world view and our philosophy of life. As a extension Sagittarius also 'rules' religion, man's attempt to understand the big picture. New Moons are opportunities to plant a seed for a new way of being. In Sagittarius it is about new ways of believing, understanding and the search for meaning.

This New Moon comes at a time when many are doing just that, searching for meaning. We find ourselves in a more random and shifting world. Countries are dissolving, shorelines and riverbeds disappearing as water levels rise. Simultaneous to this people are drawing deeper lines in the sand, closing down borders, putting whole cities under lock down, all in an attempt to stabilize that which cannot be stabilized.

We are attempting to make ourselves safer by pushing against something, fighting to the bitter end. Yet what would that serve? Or better yet, who would that serve. Certainly not the inhabitants of the earth, or the Earth herself.

The earth is telling us something. Boundaries are arbitrary, and if we want to survive and thrive we are going to have to start not only working together but working within the laws of nature. Sagittarius also rules Natural Law and with Saturn, the structure of our beliefs now in Sagittarius it is time to listen to mother nature and take her lead.

New Moons are about planting new seeds, and in the case of Sagittarius these are the seeds of understanding. Understanding each others situations, seeing the big picture and coming up with a philosophy of life that fosters life, not death. This New Moon seed is planted in some rich soil. The richness comes from the decay of the structures that no longer serve our evolution. This is seen in the last quarter square between Saturn (structure) and Neptune (dissolution) as the tried and true (Saturn) is no longer working and is certainly not true. This square is active now and through 2016. We are evolving and moving into the Aquarian Age, the age of the common good, the days of the hierarchical and pyramidal structure of existence are numbered. This will require a lot of break down and we are certainly seeing that everywhere we look. The New Moon in Sagittarius makes supportive aspect to Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries, the lines of communication are open and there are a lot of understanding and knowledge for us to use for the benefit of everyone. Yet the powers that be would rather keep us in fear. Don't fall into that trap, it serves both sides of the 'heap on one atrocity after the other' old way of doing things.

In Europe and America we are seeing the rise of Fascism yet again. We've been here before folks, this is not the answer. Hate speeches are just a way for those who are afraid of loosing their power to create energy to feed off of. To truly move past this we must 'hold the space for love'. This is also seen in the New Moon chart as Venus, the planet of love is in a trine of understanding with Neptune, the planet of compassion. Love is the only way we will make it through this time. And we are wired to love, not to hate. Like all things, it matters most when it's hardest to do, so LOVE one another NOW.

Full Moon in Gemini: A Matter of Informed Faith

On November 25th there will be a Full Moon in the sign of Gemini. Opposite the Full Moon is the Sun, Saturn and Mercury all in the sign of Sagittarius. Full Moons bring awareness and the awareness of this Full Moon illuminates what we believe to be true and the facts as they stand. A square from Neptune in Pisces to the Full Moon axis further complicates matters as Neptune's function is to dissolve the boundaries of ordinary reality in order to open us up to the biggest picture possible. The issue becomes one of discernment. Neither trusting logic nor having blind faith will sufficed to determine what is real and what is not, as the very fabric of reality seems to be morphing before our eyes.

Saturn is just one day away (November 26th) of making an exact square to Neptune this is the first of three exact squares (the other two occur in 2016) that will test our nettle as the structures that no longer serve fall away. This last quarter square is part of a longer 36 year cycle that began back in 1989 in the sign of Capricorn. Now three quarters around the zodiac, we are all questioning the reality we had been conditioned to believe. This can be very disconcerting for most. Yet within this crisis are the seeds of a greater truth. The truth that we are in fact, creating our own reality. We are the captains of the ships we sail upon the Great Cosmic Sea. And when we align ourselves with spirit there is no limit to the beauty we can create. This takes a leap of faith, but not blind faith, it takes informed faith.

We are at the precipice of a great opportunity. Seeing what is, imagining what could be and finding the tools to take us there. We are reminded in this Full Moon that creating a New Paradigm is within our reach if we are willing to love and willing to work.

New Moon in Scorpio: Imagining the New World into Existence

On November 11th there will be a New Moon in the sign of Scorpio. New Moon’s demarcate the start of a new lunar cycle. This New Moon occurs at 20 degrees of Scorpio. The Sabian symbol for 20 degrees of Scorpio states: ‘A woman draws away two dark curtains closing the entrance to a sacred pathway.” This image of a hidden pathway being revealed gives us the idea that we are being invited to move in a new direction. The fact that this New Moon falls on 11:11, a number most often connected with an energetic gateway causing us to ‘wake up’ to our true nature, further indicates an energetic upgrade for humanity. The fact that it is a woman who is revealing the way, points to the feminine function of imagination. Imagination is a powerful tool, as powerful as reason, yet not valued in our patriarchal culture.

One of the tenets of the Aquarian Age is equality. We live in a very unequal world, the most glaring is the strength of the masculine outward force and the repression of the inner feminine force. Feelings are not valued, the Earth is not valued, except as a tool for the powerful to rule through ownership. Who really owns the Earth? Surely not the top 1% of the 1%! Although if we go by the arbitrary accounts and balances of patriarchal society, they do, and they can do whatever they want with it. That is just not so.

Another tenet of the Aquarian Age is people working together for the common good. This too is not supported. In fact we are constantly bombarded by the corporate run media on how different we are. If there is even a small line in the sand between people, the powers that be will surely dig a moat impossible to cross. This only works if we listen.

Yet nature will always seek balance and we are all part of nature’s balance. No matter how daunting the future may look, we cannot give into the idea that there is nothing we can do about it. There is everything we can do about it.

This new Moon has some powerful allies, the Sun/Moon makes a positive connection to Jupiter in Virgo. The lines of communication are open between us. We all have a lot of information that will prove very helpful as we move into the future. Practical ideas on how to heal our wounds, whether they be physical, emotional, mental, planetary or spiritual and how to move forward from there are bountiful.

A flowing trine from Chiron in Pisces to the Sun/Moon opens us up to each other’s knowledge around healing. It is important to listen to one another, we can learn a lot from each other. Mercury in the sign of deep thinking Scorpio makes a waning sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, giving us the opportunity to change our minds toward a more progressive and Aquarian world view. Even those who would historically chafe against ‘radical’ ideas are making the shift. Check out Bernie Sanders visit to Liberty University on You Tube.

The Sun/Moon along with Jupiter also creates a Yod, an aspect pattern called the Finger of God, with Uranus in Aries. Uranus is a revolutionary force and  in Aries is about freedom. When Uranus moved into Aries and began to interact with Pluto in Capricorn (Symbolizing the Powerful, moneyed few at the top of the hierarchical pyramid) the sparks of revolution took the world by storm. In some places, like Tunisia, new more equal systems of self governance emerged. In other places, complete and utter chaos.

This Yod reminds us that revolution requires small incremental steps, lest our desire for freedom can devolve into anarchy. This Yod also reminds us that it is as important to let go of our attachments to outcomes. No matter how brilliant you may feel your ideas are, they will only be helpful if they can be utilized by society at a pace that society can handle. That being said, people are hungry for change and hungry to feel as if what they feel, think and know is of value. When it comes down to it, most folks just want a fulfilling life. That means different things to different people and there is room for that in the New Paradigm. Once we take unhealthy and unfounded fear out of the picture people will have the capacity to show their true nature.

And lastly, let’s not forget what the Sabian Symbol shows us. One sure fire way to change the world is to imagine it changed. Whether it’s as simple as having more personal resources, a job that you love, a relationship you desire, or a world based on mutual love and respect we must Imagine It So!

And so it shall be.
